Guns, stags, and the language of the common man

They simply don't make stuff like these any more.
For example, when was the last time you were able to buy a replica handgun made of metal through the mail? I can imagine that today people aren't too willing to send a model small caliber handgun anonymously for a few dollars and a shipping and handling. Of course you can always purchase any sort of quackery and nostrum through the mail, internet, infomercial, and at your malls herbal supplement store these days.

Needless to say, these old advertisements have been providing me with a wealth of entertainment. The organization of this sidebar of mail-aways alone is simply captivating in a composition standpoint. First your attention is caught by guns, then the scantily clad woman draws you in with the allure of stag loops. And although the "For Big Men Only," slogan is really intended for the Triple E shoes sold below the lovely line-drawn model, you can't help but sense some copy editor having a great deal of fun with the double entendre of the word play.
Even the subtlety of the gun and its proximity to the advertisement real estate tips has some manly tone of lordship over the manor.

Such virility in such a slim package of information.
